Über die Regenbogenbrücke

habe ich heute mein liebstes Katzenkind begleitet :(

Today I accompanied my one and only cat over the rainbow bridge :(

After the syringe from the vet she went to sleep gently in my arms.
Sweetheart, I'll never forget and will always love you. Thank you for the wonderful 15 years you've been with me.

Einen guten Flug...

read this in English

Pepie
A good flight seems to have had this package:

I'm really antsy to get this package on Monday because it is just for me.
Since I know the tracking number, I look regulary which route this package has taken. And as you see, it is really fast :).

I know what is inside, but you have to wait until Monday.

And sewing? Um... ok, I admit there is still nothing to show. I'm stuck in the fabric choice for the adventcalendar bag and this seems to be better than to sew regulary every day.

Alles neu...

read this in English

Pepie

Everything is new in may,  we proverbial say in Germany. Ok, we have December. This is sooooo far away from May and still not short before May. In between is still the winter. I don't like it, especially when there is snow.
But let's talk about the news: As the reader has probably noticed, my blog address is new, the design is new and yes, also a new blog entry of mine.

Nothing new about sewing. Even if I have enough ideas, enough stuff anyway and lots of great new and old patterns that I like to sew now and immediately. Above all, Christmas is just around the corner, and some gifts are waiting to be done. And the most important thing: time is also available.

Why I will not immediately plunge into creative fun? Well, I'm a bit knocked out and the incapacity certificate is now in the forth month. Burn out is the diagnosis. I'm feeling much better already but I am still far away from being healthy. But I am confident to manage it.

But I think a bit of creative activity will not stop my recovery process. Therefore I will try now, every day for at least 15 minutes to sew something for me. Not that I would have had the idea so completely spontaneous, no, that wasn't my idea. On the first of December we'll reduce the waiting time for the Christlmas Eve with an Advent calendar. You will find a lot on the Internet and Farbenmix provides a Bag-Sew Along this year. Every day there is something that takes round about 15 minutes and at the end, at Christmas Eve we have a finished bag. And this Advent calender is in German, English and Dutch.

Now I will check my fabric stash for the bag.
Lets see if I can present a picture of day 1 later on.

And who will participate too?

my first crocheted sock

Hi,

yesterday I have finished my first chrocheted sock:

I have crocheted it in size 42/43 using a needle no. 3. That is a bit bigger than I needed but the sock is still a bit too narrow. Ok, it is wearable but the next pair has to be a bit bigger.
Fortunately  I have some other yarn in stash for testing another pair of socks (after I have finished the first pair of course).

A letter from overseas

Hi @ll,

today I received a letter from Canada with some nice goodies:

Cynthia has sent me these cute fabric labels. It is her own design and she has an amazing talent in that.

I follow her blog just round about two years now and I am still impressed of her creative work.
These labels are available on spoonflower, where Cynthia already has won the weekly fabric design contest twice ( and I am really sure that she will win some other).

Cynthia, thank you so much for this great surprise :).

At the moment I am working on crocheted socks. I will show you a picture when half of the work is done. They seems a bit small although I have choosen a bigger size than needed.

To my SMS winners: I hope you have received your prizes. I know I have sent them a bit too late (sorry for that), but I was ill and we had also a huge price reduction on the shipping costs on 1st January.

Super Style Bag Swap by Sew, mama, Sew!

Hi there,

the Super Style Bag Swap is already over for a while.
I have participated and it was really fun :). My partner was Kristina from Slovenia and I have sewn a "Julie-bag" for her:

Kristina was very fast with the bag she had sewn for me. It is a shoulder bag and it it is really nice. I love the red contrast zipper:

I use this bag very often :).

The reason for posting about this bag swap so late, was my further education which includes a lot of learning all those new medical terms. This is a totaly new part for me but it is also really interesting.
And my old PC got out of order and I have a new one now.

Kristina, I hope you have the same fun with the bag I have sewn for you as I have with your bag you have sewn for me :).

It includes three variations of bags, which are all nice.

I have sewn the messanger bag. A pattern review in German will follow on my other blog (take a look at my bloglist).

And here is my bag:

A new pencil case......

.... for me :).

I need it because I am back school since October 1st. For the next two years I make a further education in medical documentation.

The pencil case pattern was published in August this year on the Sew Mama Sew-blog.

I have used an Alexander Henry Fabric and an unknown brand fabric in black with white dots for the lining.

From these fabrics I have also planned to sew a great bag. I have already cut it out and ironed on the interfacing. I hope I have time to sew it this week.

crochet - first attempts

Hi there,

everywhere I see those wonderful crochet flowers, granny squares and a lot more beautiful things.

Crochet? Me? Long long ago in my childhood there was something called chain stitches *g*. Also knitting is not really something I could, just scarfs are easy, I have tried socks, but that was horrible (now my aunt is knitting them for me).

But crochet? Ok, lets give it a try. I've bought some crochet hooks and two balls of wool and start with the different things that goes beyond chain stitches. I am sorry, but I am not firm yet with those special chrochet vocabulary and leo.dict.org isn't helpful for this :(.

Here is now a pic from my first flower attempt *g*:

the next attempt is much better:

and changing colors is really easy:

My first conclusion: Crochet is much more easier than knitting and makes more fun.
Now I need some more colors. They are already ordered and I hope I will get them on Friday or Saturday.

Today is a special Giveaway Day, which is organized by SMS (Sew, Mama Sew!).

It is really fun to browse all these blogs who participate in this Giveaway Day.

So beautiful things to win, so many interesting blogs which I don't have recognized yet.

Renate is one of the more than 100 particpants, where a closer look is really rewarding.

Spoonflowers test-swatches received

yeah, I was so excited to get them, and yes they are great, but......

..it is not the colour I have expected.

The swatches have a size of 8" x 8" what is round about 20cm x 20 cm:

and these are the original designs:

Now the real work has to be done: to change the colours like I want to have them. For that I need to have the colour chart be printed at spoonflower. I think in four weeks I will get them.

So time enough to do other things, perhaps some sewing ;)?.

Ciao,

Pepie
